I just noted that if I try copying files over from my CD to my desktop (i.e. those files which I could open and read initially from my CD ) I get the error - The file 'xyz.txt' can't be read since a read/write error has occured - Do you wish to proceed ? And when I say yes it doesn't get copied anyway (as expected ).

Does anyone have an inkling as to what this could be due to ? I'm probably missing out on something basic here and need to proceed... any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated.
