It seems that whom ever but your CDROMs togther never expected them to by run anyway but locally. Running applications from an HFS/Linux Mount

Hello, I'm having a problem getting a linux server correctly configured for the grade school my kids attend. I'm hoping that someone in this group has the answer. The network uses a Linux server with netatalk and HFS-0.7.8 installed. I am able to mount an HFS cdrom on the Linux server from a Performa 6112 (system 7.5.1) connected via Ethertalk. The files icons show up correctly when the drive is opened on the Mac desktop - this works fine. Here is the problem: If I try to run an application from the mounted cdrom drive, some applications work partially - and some don't work at all. The Mac error messages say basically that it can't find the cdrom at the "internal" location. Like it forgot that it launched the application from the ethertalk shared disk. I'm not experienced with appletalk but assumed that it would be normal to run applications that reside on remote disks. Is this assumption wrong? What am I missing and how do I set it up correctly? It has proven to be a rather stable set of tools, and to that end I plan to re-release version 1.19b as version 2.0 in the next few weeks if I hear that all is well with this version. Note this means I will no longer consider this beta software. Significant changes from 1.18b to 1.19b include: * A problem which prevented large volumes from being properly formatted by hfs_format() has been fixed. This should also allow the library to correctly manipulate large volumes in certain other cases. * The code has been adapted to work with Tcl 7.6 and Tk 4.2. * The `hls' and `hdir' programs have been re-written, and now support most of the usual UNIX `ls' options. * The general documentation has been updated. Need Help : Connecting a Tahoe 230 under Linux

Hi, I use Linux Box 2.1 and i try to get an SCSI Optical Drive Tahoe 230 from Pinnacle working . At boot Time , it is not recognize. Do I need a special driver with it ? Gilles Lorphelin gl(a)mail.pf
