Hi,
I work with a lot of old Japanese HFS Standard CD-ROMs (as ISO format).
I use hfsutils (hls -1aR > file.txt) to catalogue their contents.
I've come to notice that some discs produce a directory listing that is
valid Japanese (Mac OS) encoding (aka x-mac-japanese), whilst others do not
and result in an unidentifiable encoding and I can't figure out why. Maybe
it's a bug in hfsutils?
This ISO produces a valid text file:
https://archive.org/details/nikkei-mac-cd-vol-2
This ISO produces a *invalid* text file:
https://archive.org/details/nikkei-mac-cd-rom-1994-2-17
The two text files are in a zip at this URL
https://file.io/GIDtOuXawZdM
ps: I use macOS TextEdit or CotEditor to open the resulting text files.
Any thoughts appreciated!
