a) Of course you can make/burn CD-R in HFS-Format with an iMac. b) I guess you use HFS+ (aka "Extended HFS") which is not compatible to HFS and not covered by this list. c) Audio CDs (Red Book) and Data CDs (Yellow Book) have different formats i.e. the first uses sectorsizes of 2352 bytes and the second 2048 bytes. Because of that Audio-CDs are not in HFS-Format (which is younger than the CD-Audio Red Book format).
