who can tell me how to get the time when i play a mp3 file using libmad ? which function can i use ?

The problem that I've been having doesn't have to do with configuration. Here's the issue: in my codebase, the project's properties show warnings as errors. Because of this, I was forced to make several minor modifications to MAD, such as castings to resolve the possible loss of data and signed/unsigned mismatches (see list below). I just returned to a fresh version of MAD and recompiled without the "Warnings as errors" checkbox being set, and it's now running fine. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm going to be able to convince my teammates to turn that checkbox off for the rest of the codebase. Has anybody else tried compiling libmad using strict compiler settings? Following is the list of warnings that results if you attempt to compile libmad using strict settings. Configuration problem?

I've discovered madlld and begun using it to try and learn libmad's low-level api, but I'm having some problems. When I run madlld, most of the frames fail with recoverable errors, and the total output is very small. For example, an mp3 that is 4937K in size is resulting in a decoded version that is only 221K, with only 49 frames decoded. Almost all of the other frames fail with the recoverable error of "Huffman data overrun." I'm guessing that my MAD configuration is to blame, but I'm new to using MAD and I'm not sure where it has gone wrong (I've looked in configure.in and at my config.log but I'm not seeing the issue). I'm running in MSVC 6 on a Windows 2000 machine, so I've set the following preprocessor definitions: FPM_DEFAULT,HAVE_CONFIG_H,ASO_ZEROCHECK,WIN32,_DEBUG,_WINDOWS,_MBCS. Also, I'm using the config.h and mad.h from the msvc++/libmad directory. Has anybody else had this problem? Does anybody have a config.h and mad.h that work well on Win32 that I could share? libmad using MSVC 6

I'm working on integrating libmad with a game engine, and I've got a few questions. I'm new to MAD and mp3 decoding in general, so I apologize in advance for any newbie questions. In scanning through the mad-dev archives, I read that FPM_DEFAULT produces slow and not very accurate decoding whereas FPM_INTEL is fast and accurate, but the provided msvc project file uses FPM_DEFAULT. Is this because FPM_INTEL assumes gcc and uses gcc-specific extensions? Is there any way to use something faster than FPM_DEFAULT in VC? I'm very concerned with speed because I'll need to use lazy decoding to ensure smooth frame rates. I initially used mpglib (a subsection of mpg123) for this project of mine, and got the lazy decoding working nicely when I discovered that mpglib doesn't support joint stereo. Does libmad fully support joint stereo, intensive stereo, and VBR? Thanks very much, Chris Dellario

how to quickly find out ID3 tag

I want to quickly scan an Mp3 file and get its song name, artist etc info before playing. For ID3tag V1, I can search from the file beginning and end. Clear input buffer with high-level API?

Hi, Rob (and all). I'm trying to figure out how to tell the decoding process to flush the input buffer after a MAD_FLOW_STOP is returned from decode_input_read (in madplay.c). It stops playing fine, but when I decode() again, it picks up from where it left off in the buffer. I want to retain this behavior too, but also have the ability to kill the current buffer when it restarts. Is this not possible with the high-level API? Perhaps I can add a MAD_FLOW_FLUSH? Statically linking madplay

Hi, I have been trying to statically link madplay but with no success. I set LDFLAGS to --static in the Makefile but when I run the file command, it informs me that there are still shared library dependencies. Can someone advise how to modify the Makefile so madplay would be a monolithic, statically linked app? I have run out of ideas. Thanks. UQ

Hy list, is there a good and fast way to test if a file actually is a mp3 file or not? My attempts with decoding some bytes at the beginning of the file do not work... Thanx for help. Cheers, Sebastian

Xing ID3 and VBR
