There is another patch for `madplay' I forgot to mention, contributed by Diomidis Spinellis, which (according to Diomidis) allows you:

1. to specify a list of filenames as an @ argument to madplay (as in mpg123) and

2. control the player with two signals: SIGUSR1 to play the previous song SIGUSR2 to play the next song

This patch may conflict with the TTY patch, but here it is nonetheless, modified only to allow clean patching against 0.13.0b:

I may incorporate this functionality into a future release.
