I don't think they were meant to be played, but rather I think they are there to make sure your decoder works properly. Like, you decode the files and compare the output to another decoder that you know works properly. Sorry if this isn't what you were looking for, but I hope it helps. -- Marcus B. 24bit Output in WinXP on a MX300

Has anybody gotten this combo to work? I ask because 24bit output works for MX300 (and I assume all Aureal cards), under WinME. Any help would be great Thanks, Geoff

Solved my general problem with building applications for this platform (including madplay) by rebuilding tools and general set up. But now I (& others) have a different problem - or rather two problems. 1. Firstly, madplay never recognises that the DC and driver are capable of stereo output. This is not a problem for any other application I have tested - any body else have this problem or know how it might be fixed? 2. Secondly the output is "doubled up" - ie each fragment is played twice - meaning each MP3 takes twice as long to play and comes out in a way not all expected - any suggestions? I don't have this problem with, say mpg123, which plays output linerally. Thanks Adrian

are you playing them back in Wnamp? I have a Athlon 1333, and I have to use the command line version of madplay. Winamp can't keep up with all the data, it stops and stutters. What's the sonic foundry program you're using? Is there a noticeable improvement?
