I am new to the list so please excuse me if this topic has already been
discussed. I have searched the internet trying to find out why my M-Audio
Audiophile 24/96 will not play back in 24bit mode. I am running Windows XP
RC1 Beta and I am using M-Audio's latest Windows 2000 WDM drivers. I have
verified with M-Audio that this driver version does support 24bit output.
They told me: "The latest drivers are 4.12.1.20 are 24 bit but limited to
your application rather then the drivers".
When I try to play an mp3 file via winamp with the MAD plugin enabled with
24bit selected, I get an error that the format is not supported.
I currently have this installed in my old Intel BX chipset based motherboard
with a Intel Celeron 400mhz processor with 384 megs of PC100 SDRAM.
