Compiling madplay on arm-linux

Hi... I have problem compiling madplay for arm-linux.... I used the arm-linux-gcc 3.2.3, compiled the libmad and libid3tag successfully, but when i compile madplay, i received the following message: ----- compile message starts here ----- checking for id3_tag_parse in -lid3tag... no configure: error: libid3tag was not found *** You must first install libid3tag before you can build this package. *** If libid3tag is already installed, you may need to use the LDFLAGS *** environment variable to specify its installed location, e.g. -L<dir>. ----- compile message ends ----- i got the libid3tag.so.0 at the right folder but it still can't find the file.... If someone knows how to solve the problem, please give me some advise. Thanks. Regards, Shinta

Hi, can mad decode mp3 files with samplerate other then 44.1 Khz or 22.05 Khz ? can any one explin me tis behaviour plz. Best regards. Tarek.

compile error on linux

I have problem in compiling madplay on linux(RedHat Linux7.3). I've found similar problem in this archive, but it didn't help. 1. I downloaded libid3tag-0.15.1b.tar.gz, libmad-0.15.1b.tar.gz, madplay-0.15.1b.tar.gz 2. I configured, maked and installed libid3tag and libmad, which were successful. I also confirmed that there are mad.h and id3tag.h under /usr/local/include. 3. MAD/ARM archeology..

Hello, I've been lugging around a 0.13 version of libmad for about 5 years for use in a back burner project. I've ported the works to PPC about a year ago and just today to ARM. With 0.13 libmad there seems to be some really funky decode artifacts in libmad 0.13/ARM (but not in 0.15.1) which I couldn't explain. I noticed a few ARM-specific changes in fixed.h between 0.15.1 and 0.13 as well as what appear to be some tweaks called out in the CHANGES file. But the echo-like decode artifacts were so dramatic I can't believe they would have gone unnoticed nor unaddressed. I suppose it could be some odd build issue local to my work but that seems rather remote. Anyone encounter any similar issue specific to ARM in or around that vintage? I listen to a stream that plays data retrieved by curl piped to madplay, on my Inspiron8000's Ubuntu GNOME desktop: #!/bin/sh # Clean out old sessions. killall curl madplay sleep 2 # WWOZ.org stream curl http://wwoz-sc.streamguys.com:80 | madplay -Q - Every once in a while the curl process is interrupted by a network timeout. I want to put the script into a loop that tests the playback status, and restarts the pipeline if it's not playing. Any ideas? -- (C) Matthew Rubenstein

I'm starting to code with audio now. I'm trying to code a basic mp3 player just for studying purposes. I found libmad interesting to my purposes and would like to learn how to use it on my ANSI C programs. But I couldn't find any documentation of it. So if you could send me some links over the internet it would be pretty good!! Thank you very much you all. Egon Braun

Suitability of use for Embedded Project

I am looking for source code for a no operating system, streamed audio receiver. I am told the stream is MPEG1 Layer2. Is the MAD source suitable for this? , and have people found this easy to port?

I'm using libmad to decode some mp3 sound. But not in a normal way, i'm using a program in windows platform to compile the code, and I get the folloing error " In file included from TestApp_Memory/src/libmad/frame.h:25, from TestApp_Memory/src/libmad/decoder.c:51: TestApp_Memory/src/libmad/fixed.h:446:3: #error "no FPM selected" " I already use this library on linux and it work ok, with the make. but now i need to integrated with a another program, microblaze, where I only have a normal gcc compiler. Do I need somme specific Flags to compile it and run it? I don't know if it is important but I dont send a file to the input now, I'm reading the streams directly from the memory. that means that the decode function receives a pointer to the mem_address. cyas Sonia Gonçalves
